Computers and equipment
Desktop computers
The Medical Library provides a number of computer workstations. Computer use is subject to our Computer Resource Regulations.
All computer users must abide by the usage policies of Southern Illinois University and of the Medical Library.
Equipment loan service (AKA Booking)
The equipment is available on a first come, first serve basis to SIUSM faculty, staff, students and residents with an appropriate School of Medicine or hospital photo ID.
Equipment available includes:
- LCD projectors
- Laptops
- Digital cameras, video cameras and tripods
- Poster tubes
Please arrange in advance for instruction in using presentation hardware. Set up support is not provided at the presentation site. Report any problems with the equipment upon return.
For availability and reservations contact:
- The LCD projectors and laptops can be reserved for a specific date and time.
- If needed, a laptop may also be checked out with a projector.
- Reserve equipment as far in advance as possible.

The Library currently has limited copier availability.

Library staff will retrieve and scan materials for SIU faculty, staff, and residents from departments subscribed to the service.

SIU users who use PubMed may choose to electronically forward document requests to the Medical Library through Loansome Doc.

Self-Service scanning
Two self-service flatbed scanners are connected to two public desktop computer workstations. Scans should be saved to a flash drive and not left on the computer.
Media production
The Cave (Create Audio & Video for Education) media production suite is located in the Medical Library and provides computers and equipment for creating and editing multimedia.
