ANESTHESIA ROTATION ORIENTATION - MEMORIAL MEDICAL CENTER

  • Arrive in the operating room suite, lower level E building at 6:45 AM. You will need to wear proper O.R. attire (scrubs) and please wear your name plate.
  • You will be oriented your first day and also tour the O.R. suite. Daily responsibilities will be outlined..
  • You will be assigned daily preoperative assessments. The daily operating schedule for the next day is usually available around 1-2 PM. Ask an anesthesiologist which preop assessments might be appropriate for you. After completing these, present your ‘cases’ to an anesthesiologist in the office to develop a care plan. This will usually be a ‘call’ physician (1st thru 4th call).
  • The lecture schedules will be posted in both lounges(E016) & (E56). These discussion sessions are usually held in the afternoon before or after your preop assessments. The discussion sessions will be based on the study questions you have received from Rena. Please keep your study questions with you each day for reference.
  • Pick up your take home exam the 2nd Thursday of your rotation from the Rena’s office. This exam is to be completed Thursday night and we will go over the exam together the next day.
  • When seeing patients in the holding area during the day, please communicate with the anesthesiologist scheduled to take care of that patient to discuss a care plan as soon as possible.
