Education

The Department of Population Science and Policy (PSP) is collaborating with SIU SOM faculty and students to redesign the population health curriculum with innovative and extensive materials to consider and serve America’s most vulnerable populations, especially those residing in rural areas. This new curriculum from Population Science and Policy provides information and experiential learning opportunities in population science that will complement the clinical skills medical students develop.

As the education staff collaborates with the three divisions within PSP, the Department provides students with up-close, experiential learning activities. In addition to offering resource sessions centered on our three divisions, the education team is also able to introduce students to a vast number of projects in which they can assist. This provides opportunities to practice population health strategies in the communities the school serves.
