SIU School of Medicine has launched a new scholar track for medical students and staff who want to advance diversity and integration, reduce stigma and biases, and practice anti-racism and critical consciousness in health care.

Each February SIU hosts a series of events to honor Dr. Alonzo Kenniebrew, the first Black physician in the United States to build and operate a private surgical hospital. The 2023 Kenniebrew Lecture and Forum has expanded to include an all-day medical conference on Friday, February 17.
