SIU Med School Elects New Alumni Board Members

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine has named five new board members to the school’s Alumni Society Board of Governors. The new board members include: Milton Armstrong, MD, FACS; Richard Austin, MD; Careyana Brenham, MD; Kelli Webb, MD; and Tabatha Wells, MD. The new board members’ three-year term will begin at the April board meeting.

Armstrong, a member of the class of 1982, is the division chief in the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery and serves as the plastic surgery residency program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Austin, a member of the class of 2014, will complete his emergency medicine residency this year at SIU School of Medicine.

Brenham, class of 2000, is an associate professor and residency program director for family and community medicine at SIU School of Medicine.

Webb, class of 2008, is a plastic surgeon with Southern Illinois Healthcare Medical Group Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and is also a clinical assistant professor with SIU School of Medicine.

Wells, class of 2009, is a specialist in family medicine at UI Health in Chicago, as well as assistant professor of family medicine and Maternity Care co-director at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago.

The 20-member board represents the interests of medical school graduates and serves as the official vehicle for alumni to maintain personal and professional relationships to the school. The board works to support the school’s mission, provide governance of the Alumni Society and receive information of importance from SIU School of Medicine for the professional wellbeing of the alumni membership.
