Take Me Out to Lunch at the Ballgame - 2019 Student Welcome Lunch

SIU School of Medicine welcomed the second-year students to their new home base with the annual hot dog lunch on August 12.  The event was almost rained out by morning showers, but the clouds parted in time for the teams to file into the courtyard and grab some tasty ballpark food. Cookies, Cracker Jacks and Cub- and Cardinal-colored slushies were provided as desserts.

This year’s celebrity grillers included: Greg Damarin, Security; Andy Wilber, PhD, MMICB; Dr. Wendi El-Amin, Equity & Diversity; Hal Smith, SIU Foundation; Dr. Erik Constance, Student Affairs; and coming off the DL – Leslie Smith in HR.

We extend a Major League thank-you to the anonymous faculty member who donated 4 tickets to a weekend Cardinals – Colorado Rockies ballgame as a door prize. Second-year student Emilie Lohman Irwin was the lucky winner.

The lunch was coordinated by the Holidays ‘R Us Committee with support from the Office of Marketing and Communications.
