Cardiology Fellowship Goals

The goal of the Cardiology Fellowship is to prepare trainees for a career in cardiovascular medicine either within the clinical practice sector or within academic cardiology. Critical to this goal is a solid foundation in Clinical Cardiology in all areas within the rotations provided during the fellowship program. Each rotation has specific goals and objectives and a curriculum is provided both in print and electronically for all trainees. Fellows will be assigned rotations to meet the requirements for Cardiology Fellowship training and then use their elective months to pursue career interests

Thank you for your interest in the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship program at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Our program received accreditation from the ACGME to commence training three fellows a year, starting July 2019. The Southern Illinois University Family and Community Medicine program in Springfield has achieved recognition as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality.
