Welcome to the Office of Correctional Medicine at SIU Medicine. Our diverse team is made up of talented providers and professionals who support and advocate for the health of incarcerated and justice-involved individuals throughout Illinois.  

We collaborate with law enforcement and the Illinois Department of Corrections to improve health outcomes and promote continuity of care for this special and at-risk population. We’re also proud to provide unique research and career opportunities for our growing staff.

MISSION

Quality health care for justice-involved people

SIU School of Medicine is a renowned leader in medical innovation, education, training and research, and its mission is to assist the people of central and southern Illinois in meeting their health care needs through education, patient care, research, and service to the community. This will serve as the foundation to providing quality health care to justice-involved individuals and will be done with board-certified physicians, advanced practice providers and scientists, integrated health care learning opportunities, research of the causes and cures of disease, and peer support programming to improve health care outcomes and provide continuity of care as individuals return home. Partnering with the Illinois Department of Corrections to provide health care to justice-involved individuals is partnering with Illinois communities – the communities that SIU School of Medicine currently serves.
