Dr. Broquet graduated from SIU School of Medicine in 1984.  After completing residency training in psychiatry at the University of South Alabama, she returned to SIU as a faculty member, where she has held a variety of positions, including psychiatry clerkship director and program director, and has been ADGME/Designated Institutional Official (DIO) since 2001.

Accepting her award, Broquet said, “I’ve spent my entire career at SIU and been supported and nurtured and inspired by so many along the way in my journey as an educator. I want to thank everyone who played a part in it.”

Commitment to Teaching Honorees

Each year, the Academy for Scholarship in Education selects an exemplary faculty member as the J. Kevin Dorsey Outstanding Educator of the Year. To earn this prestigious honor, a faculty member must demonstrate excellence in their innovative teaching, student- and patient-centered approach, commitment to educational research, and development of effective curricula. Also, the faculty should influence teaching and learning in the surrounding communities and at a national level.
