COVID-19 Update: April 16, 2020 This is a daily joint communication from the Sangamon County Department of Public Health along with Memorial Health System, HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield Clinic and SIU Medicine updating you on the status of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Sangamon County. This communication will come each day as necessary. At the time of this press release, we are announcing one new death in Sangamon County. The clinic at SIU was started by the Division of Plastic surgery, in the Department of Surgery, and was formerly called the congenital head and neck anomalies clinic. In January 2019, it expanded becoming a cooperative effort between Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery providing comprehensive cleft and craniofacial care. We are now able to provide a wide range of same day services for a complete evaluation and testing in a single visit. SIU Medicine Launches Pandemic Health Worker Program for Remote Patient Monitoring

The Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) and SIU School of Medicine will establish a new Pandemic Health Worker Program to support the health and wellness needs of people at home during this pandemic. The goal of the program is to remove barriers to health and community services for the underserved population and those at risk during the pandemic. Pandemic Health Workers and teams will be deployed in communities in downstate Illinois to identify those in need and deliver health and wellness services to them through wellness check-ins, home deliveries, telehealth services
