MBBS Graduate Program Application and Admissions

The minimum requirement for admission to the MBBS Graduate Program is an undergraduate degree in a biological, chemical or physical science, For thesis MS and PhD applicants a cumulative GPA of 2.7 during the BA/BS degree and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 in any graduate coursework is required. Requirements for the non-thesis MS in Biomedical Science can be found here

Each applicant must submit an online application that contains the following:

  1. A non-refundable $65 application fee, which must be paid by credit card
  2. Unofficial transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate coursework
  3. A resume or curriculum vitae
  4. US driver’s license (domestic student) or passport (international student)
  5. At least 2 letters of recommendation
  6. A personal statement (1-2 pages) describing the applicant’s motivation for graduate work, any research experience, and goals and ambitions for the future. Thesis M.S. and Ph.D. applicants must also identify 2-3 faculty members with whom their research interests align, with specific reasons for this selection.
  7. Additional documents may be required for International applicants, please see below.

The GRE is strongly recommended but not required.

If you’re applying for a thesis M.S. or Ph.D. program, you’ll also need to rank up to 3 Concentrations that you are interested in. For those who have not decided which field to purse, our Interdisciplinary Rotation option provides a competitive edge by allowing you to rotate through various research areas before selecting your Concentration.

Application deadlines

Fall 2025: Applications received by January 15, 2025 received priority for research-based MS and PhD degrees. Late applications will also be considered but please apply as soon as possible. 

The deadline for applications to the non-thesis MS degree in Biomedical Science is June 1, 2025. 

Spring 2026:  Limited recruitment will occur for research-based MS and PhD degrees. Applications received by Sept. 1, 2025 will receive priority for entry into Concentrations only. 

The deadline for applications to the non-thesis MS degree in Biomedical Science is Oct. 1, 2025.

International Students

International Students

International students whose native language is not English will be required to take an English proficiency exam using TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo unless exemptions apply. Learn more here. If an English proficiency exam is required, please upload a copy of the test scores in your application. WES evaluation of international transcripts is not required, but is encouraged.

Financial Assistance

We understand that funding is a critical aspect of your graduate education. The MBBS program offers financial assistance through research and teaching assistantships, which include a stipend and tuition waiver. Fellowships are also available on a competitive basis. However, please note that financial support is not provided for non-thesis M.S. degrees.
