Mellinger Receives St. John's Recognition

SIU would like to congratulate department of Surgery's Dr. John Mellinger on being selected as a HSHS St. John's Hospital Physican of the Year . This award honors a physician who consistently reflects the hospital's core values - respect, care, competence and joy. Nominations came from members of the medical staff. Brain Awareness Day at Franklin MS

The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives and SIU HEAL Scholarship supported this year’s outreach project that engages 7th and 8th graders through hands-on activities, games, presentations and a dissection. Simmons Cancer Institute to Provide Free Oral Cancer Screenings

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS – Head and neck cancer can be a devastating diagnosis, but if found at an early stage, there is an 80 percent survival rate, according to the Head and Neck Cancer Alliance. Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU will offer free head and neck cancer screenings on two Mondays, April 8, and April 22, 2019 from 4 - 6 p.m. at SCI, 315 W. Carpenter Street, Springfield.
