Pharmacology Memorial Awards Ceremony 2020 May 19, 2020 Dr. Satu Somani was one of the three original faculty members of the SIU School of Medicine Department of Pharmacology and a dedicated scientist/educator. He loved teaching, often asking for more time to teach additional material he felt was important to the student’s medical education. Dr. Somani passed in 2002, and to honor his memory, a fund was established to provide a monetary award annually to an outstanding student of Medical Pharmacology. The SIU Graduate Medical Education Committee recently presented the 4th Annual SIU SOM Quality Improvement Poster Symposium and Competition. The event showcases residents’ and fellows’ quality improvement projects. Originally scheduled for April 8, the 2019-20 SIU QI: Poster Symposium and Competition was held online this year. Monetary awards were given to the top three Quality Improvement projects: First place = $250 Second place = $150 Third place = $100 Submitted projects had to show initiative and commitment to improving systems and processes that directly and indirectly improve patient

If you require data from TouchWorks for research-related efforts, SIU Information Technology can obtain this for you. To submit a request, please log into Laserfiche and complete the IT: Report Request form. You will need to specify Research as the SIU Mission. Once the TouchWorks list is created, it will be forwarded to CCR Statistics and Informatics Division. They will assure the required approvals are in place (IRB, data use, etc) for the project before distributing to the research team. As with academic libraries throughout the country, the SIU Medical Library staff will begin working remotely on Friday, March 20 th , until further notice. Students, faculty, residents and staff with 24/7 access will continue to have use of the public library space , including bathrooms, study rooms, coffee maker and refrigerator. Public patrons will not be permitted access to the Medical Library until further notice.
