Take Your Child to Work Day in the Library

Take Your Child to Work day isn't complete without a visit to the Medical Library. The Research & Education Librarians provided activities and a serving of information to children attending the event at SIU School of Medicine. Children had a choice of online activties: ToxMystery Help Toxie the cat frind the hazards in her house. ToxTown Explore and learn about environmental health concerns where you live, work and play. Understanding Medical Words Learn how to put together parts of medical words. Button-making proved popular with all groups. Some finished buttons

General information The Mentored Professional Enrichment Experience (MPEE) is an optional eight-week elective between the first and second years of medical school. MPEE is an opportunity for you (as SIU-SOM medical students) to pursue interests in research and career development that you would not otherwise be able to investigate. The inner ear is lined with two types of hair cells that help us to hear and balance. The cells respond to sound waves for hearing and head and body movement for balance. The primary purpose of this research position is to provide cancer epidemiologist insight and innovation to advance the mission and goals of the Office of Population Science and Policy (OPSP), and the Simmons Cancer Institute (SCI) at SIU.
