SIU Med School Elects New Alumni Board Members

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine has named five new board members to the school’s Alumni Society Board of Governors. The new board members include: Milton Armstrong, MD, FACS; Richard Austin, MD; Careyana Brenham, MD; Kelli Webb, MD; and Tabatha Wells, MD. The new board members’ three-year term will begin at the April board meeting. Armstrong, a member of the class of 1982, is the division chief in the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery and serves as the plastic surgery residency program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. A national organization promoting economic opportunity has ranked Southern Illinois University Carbondale among its top 100 in the country for technology transfer. The Milken Institute’s Center for Jobs and Human Capital placed SIU at No. 76 out of 225 in the nation in its Technology Transfer and Commercialization Index of Universities & Research Institutions ranking, which it released in April. Southern Illinois University Medicine invites golfers to form teams for the annual charity golf outing benefiting the Camp COCO Children’s Cancer Fund. A shotgun start will begin the game at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 9, at The Rail Golf Course, 1400 S. Club House Dr., Springfield. The presenting sponsors of the four-person scramble are the H. D. Smith Foundation and Bunn, and the double eagle sponsor is HSHS St. John’s Children’s Hospital.
